Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a surprising partnership that challenges usual predictions, the game developer has unveiled an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering free additional story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of banned practices and monstrous changes reverberate through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Content

Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside numerous objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
  • Mikasa costume for Naoe
  • Special weapons
  • Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Content

This patch also brings the game's latest no-cost story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Partnerships

This signifies scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
